www.useblackinkonly.com is a flexible, curated view of contemporary art practice in Wales. Selected by invited curators, writers, artists, etc, it will provide a critical look at a wide and diverse range of practice. In time, we will build up an archive of artists that will both attract and collaborate with organisations from elsewhere.

Keeping up with contemporary art practice is an exciting but difficult thing to do. Artists are extremely flexible and light on their feet, and often operate within multiple networks that move between a local, national and international context. That is especially true of artists from Wales.

www.useblackinkonly.com aims to build a curated archive of artists from Wales; this will evolve and become a useful resource for artists and arts professionals looking to Wales as a result of international activity, such as the Venice Biennale. It builds on previous artist-led initiatives such as the popular SKIP publication and VIA CD created by artists Jennie Savage and Stefhan Caddick respectively.

The artists on the site are not a 'new generation' or grouped under any banner. However, they do represent some of the exciting new work coming out of Wales over the past two years.

Through inviting Content Advisors such as my self, and collaborating with other events, www.useblackinkonly.com will become an active portal, profiling and promoting artists from Wales.
